Davangere- the Mecca of education: Welcome to city!! Once a town bustling and known for its textile industry, Davangere is now a major centre offering avenues in varied streams of professional education. The city offers ample facilities for holding academic activities.

Being the District Headquarters, it houses all the important government offices. Home to a population of more than 6 lakhs, the city activities revolve around education and trade.

How to reach Davangere: Davangere is located about 265 km northwest of Bangalore and is on all the major road and rail routes. One can also take a flight to Bangalore and then use one of the road or rail routes to reach Davangere.

 

Davangere by road: Davangere is located right on National Highway No. 4, connecting Pune and Bangalore. Luxury buses ply daily from both Mumbai and Pune. The journey being a little long, it is suggested that the delegates try and reach Davangere by the evening of 29th November itself.

Those traveling from most parts of Karnataka, Davangere is just a night's journey away. You may reach on the morning of 30th November, check in to their accommodation and reach the venue by 9.30 am. Similarly, delegates starting out from Tamil Nadu and Kerala may reach Bangalore and take night bus to reach Davangere by early morning.

Delegates shall be able to catch a night bus from Davangere (on the 2nd December) to reach their home locations (or Bangalore) by 3rd December.

 

Davangere by rail: Davangere is very much a part of the nationwide computerized rail reservation system. Delegates can reserve their tickets (for journey to and from Davangere) from their home locations well in advance.

Davangere by air: The airport nearest to Davangere is Bangalore, which is very well-connected to all the major airports in India. Delegates can reach Bangalore by a suitable flight by the evening of 29th November and catch a night train or bus to reach Davangere by early morning of 30th November.

Similarly, delegates may leave Davangere by the night train or bus to reach Bangalore by the morning of 3rd December. Several flights throughout the day can take the delegates back home on 3rd December itself.

 

Local transport : The Organizing Committee has arranged bus transport from hostels and hotels to the conference venue. The schedule for 30.11.2001 is given below. Schedules for other days shall be announced during the conference.
